Episode-127-Making-Disney-Memories

127 Park Tip: Making Disney Memories

In this episode, Megan & Kris talk about some ways to make great memories at Disney parks!

Making Disney Memories

Here are five ways you can capture and make great Disney memories:

  1. Take lots of photos and have Disney cast members take photos for you too! (Hint: they’ll even use your own camera or cell phone too, just ask!)
  2. Be present with each other. Don’t constantly be on your phone or let your kids have their earbuds in all the time. Enjoy each other’s company!
  3. Plan and do something nice for a cast member or another family. This can be anything from genuinely thanking them or passing forward an act of kindness. Get creative! Doing something nice for someone else as a family will give you that wonderful memory and bring you closer together.
  4. Have a nice meal together and reflect on what you’ve done so far. People connect when dining together.
  5. Look for “magic moments” that are in abundance at the Disney parks! Things like playing musical chairs with Alice and the Mad Hatter near Coke Corner and other interactions with cast members.

Episode-123-Avoiding-Meltdowns-at-Disney

123 Park Tip: Avoiding Meltdowns at Disney!

Kris & Megan talk about the top 5 reasons your kids might have meltdowns and how to avoid them.

Avoiding Meltdowns at Disney

Here are the top five reasons your kids might have meltdowns while visiting Disneyland or Walt Disney World.

They’re Hungry/Thirsty

Just because you’re at the Disney Parks doesn’t mean your kids will ignore their normal eating schedule. Keep this in mind and try to have snacks ready for their normal eating times if your next meal is going to be a little later than normal.

They’re Tired

Same thing here. If your young kids and babies are used to a nap schedule, keep this in mind. You may not be able to get them to nap at the parks, but at least it’ll give you some understanding as to their behavior. We’d suggest having some “quiet time” and finding an out of the way area to get away from all the busyness of the park.

They’re Hot/Cold

Try to keep your kids body temperature in mind while you’re at the parks. Especially if you’re babywearing or if your kids are in hot costumes.

They Need to Run Around

Sometimes your kids will need to get out and expend some energy. Especially if they’ve been sitting in a stroller or up in a baby carrier all day. Let them down to walk along with you if they’re able or find a play area like Princess Dot’s Puddle Park in DCA.

They’re Overstimulated

There’s so much to see, smell, taste, hear, and feel at the Disney parks, it’s easy for young kids to get overstimulated. Be aware of that and try to find ways where your kids can tune to the outside world, like in the stroller, or to be able to turn inward to you if they’re being worn.

Episode-049-Saving-Money-at-Disnyland-Part-1

049 Park Tip: Saving Money at Disneyland Part 1 – Food & Souvenirs

In this episode, Megan and I chat about saving money at Disneyland when it comes to food and souvenirs.

Saving Money at Disneyland: Food & Souvenirs

Food:

• Eat breakfast in your hotel room or at home.

• Pack in lunch. You can sit in the outdoor eating areas with food you bring in. We like to buy drinks when it’s hot out, and you can get free ice water at any place with fountain drinks.

• Order an adult meal and split it between two kids. They’ll probably get more food this way too, as kid’s meals are pretty small.

• Don’t order things you don’t want. You can get a burger without the fries or a pizza without the salad for less than the meal.

• Order extras a la carte.

Souvenirs:

• Look for souvenirs in other places, like Disney outlet stores.

• The Disney store website offers park merchandise and often has sales.

• If the item isn’t Disney park specific, look online for the same item at a better price.
